The coagulation tube, or prothrombin time tube, is a light blue tube top tube that contains the anticoagulant sodium citrate and is used to collect blood samples for coagulation testing.
3.2% or 3.8% sodium citrate is used for coagulation testing. The blood to fluid additive ratio is 9:1. This tube should not be used as the first tube to collect blood. Invert 5-6 times after blood collection.
