It is pre-filled with a buffered Sodium Citrate solution, available in two standard concentrations: 3.8% (0.129 mol/L) and 3.2% (0.109 mol/L). These anticoagulants prevent blood clotting while preserving red blood cell morphology during testing.
The recommended blood to anticoagulant ratio is 4:1, which ensures optimal test performance and accuracy. This tube is compatible with both manual and automated ESR analyzers and is widely used in hospitals, clinics, and laboratories to monitor inflammation and diagnose conditions such as infections, autoimmune disorders, and certain cancers.
