No additive tubes are used to collect and store blood samples for clinical medical examinations. They are also known as vacuum blood collection tubes.
Here are some characteristics of no additive tubes:
No additives: No additive tubes contain no chemical additives.
Smooth inner wall: The inner wall of the tube is treated to be smooth and prevent blood corpuscles from adhering to it. This reduces hemolysis and allows for normal thrombocyte activity.
Coagulation: The blood in the tube coagulates completely after one hour.
Uses: No additive tubes can be used for clinical chemistry, hormones, immunology, microbiological serology, TDM, and crossmatching.
